How Blackpink’s Lisa Reacted to Her Dramatic Victoria’s Secret Outfits

Blackpink’s Lisa rocked the grand comeback of the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with her spectacular performances. After dazzling the event’s pink carpet, the K-pop star remained the talk of the internet as she also pulled off an eye-catching chrome outfit on the runway to perform her hit song “Rockstar.” Now, the curators behind the ensemble have shared all the details about its creation as well as the Thai rapper-singer’s first reaction to the look.

Vogue’s Last Looks clip of Lisa shows the K-pop star getting ready for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. The 27-year-old expressed her excitement and shared she used to watch the shows when she was young. Lisa recalled she and her friends used to walk around pretending like they were one of the models. She added, “I’m happy to be here. It feels surreal. I love this show so much.” Lisa further shared she was looking forward to donning the iconic VS wings and said, “I can’t wait to see them.”

The costume designer for the VS fashion show, Zaldy, and the Fashion Director of Victoria’s Secret, Priscilla Polley, detailed the curation process of Lisa’s outfits. The two shared that during the first fitting, Lisa “screamed” after they put the look and the wings on. Polley recalled, “She was just like, ‘Ah!'” Zaldy added, “It was priceless and precious and that I will never forget.”

Blackpink Lisa’s ‘Rockstar’ outfit at VS show was made of soda tabs

Polley showcased the archival piece from 2018, which was first worn by Taylor Hill, that Blackpink’s Lisa donned on the Victoria’s Secret pink carpet. The fashion director shared they added elements like the suede shorts to make it more red-carpet-worthy. Polley said, “As soon as Lisa puts it on, you’re gonna see that it’s just, like, absolutely belongs to her.” The team sent the outfit to the Blackpink star first and “she loved it.”

Zaldy continued to share they carefully curated Lisa’s outfit for the performance and said, “The look also has to perform because it’s mostly very active.” He shared they wanted to go for “something really powerful and strong” upon learning the Thai rapper was going to perform “Rockstar.” Zaldy then came up with a chrome piece made out of painted soda can tabs — “I thought it would be kind of like a modern feather.” He shared adding a Triumph belt buckle with Lisa’s name on it.

Besides the unique use of soda can tabs, Zaldy also built a custom 3D-printed bra featuring the “Rockstar” logo to complete Lisa’s performance outfit
