As speculation continues to mount over Conor McGregor’s future with the UFC, the WWE has posted a video acknowledges the rumor that the MMA star is set to join their ranks as a pro wrestler.
McGregor posted a tweet yesterday which suggested he was “retiring young” from the sport, with UFC President Dana White then going on to confirm that McGregor had been pulled from his upcoming rematch with Nate Diaz at UFC 200, stating that the MMA star had failed to show up to promotional appearances ahead of the fight. While it hasn’t been officially confirmed that McGregor has retired, a number of circumstances – including a tweet posted by WWE Superstar and fellow Irish fighter Becky Lynch – has led to the rumor circulating that he could be headed to the WWE.
Now WWE itself has added fuel to that fire, posting a video to their YouTube channel titled ‘Is Conor McGregor on his way to the WWE?’ While the video is a news round-up that merely comments upon the reported rumor (albeit with one very excited host), it certainly serves to stoke the flames of this heated speculation. It should also be pointed out that WWE acknowledged the rumors that AJ Styles was making his way to the WWE on their various social channels before these rumors were eventually confirmed. Make of that what you will.
