Actor Sebastian Stan recently expressed his thoughts on Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday.
Sebastian Stan, who is set to reprise his role as Bucky Barnes in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, is currently doing promotions for his upcoming movie The Apprentice. The actor also disclosed his hopes for his role in the highly-anticipated Avengers: Doomsday and who he wants to share the screen with.

Sebastian Stan was recently present in a conversation with GQ promoting his upcoming appearance in Ali Abbasi’s The Apprentice, in which he portrays the role of Donald Trump.
In the interview, Stan was asked about his feelings on Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom. Lauding Downey Jr. for his acting skills, Sebastian Stan said, “Is there any other guy that could pull that off? I don’t know, probably not. After Tropic Thunder, is there anything that guy can’t do?”
While answering, he also expressed his desire to share the screen with Downy Jr. in Avengers: Doomsday. Stan said, “I hope I’m in a scene with him.” The two shared dialogue with each other in Captain America: Civil War and also in the ensemble Avengers: Endgame.
Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024. The reveal was done by Marvel head Kevin Feige and Joe and Anthony Russo. The Russos are also returning to direct Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
As per the Hollywood Reporter, following the reveal, Robert Downey Jr. interacted with the crowd at the San Diego Comic-Con. He said, “New mask. Same task. Boy, I tell you, I like playing complicated characters.”
