Jimmy Kimmel Corrects Tim Walz’s ‘Waking up With Madam President’ Error

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz recently made his late-night debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” The Minnesota governor touched upon a variety of subjects, including his experiences as a social science teacher, the debate with Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance, and more. However, Walz went viral once again as he made a blunder about his November 6 plans with Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris if they win the elections.

Tim Walz reacts to unintentional Kamala Harris comment on Jimmy Kimmel’s show

During Tim Walz’s debut on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the Minnesota governor discussed his debate with the Republican vice presidential candidate, JD Vance. Host Jimmy Kimmel asked Walz about a moment in the debate when the Ohio senator refused to accept that former president Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. Regarding this, Walz said that he should have led the debate with this question and not asked it 85 minutes into the discussion.

The Minnesota governor confessed to the moment being “very surreal.” Walz also noted that although it is currently “the situation we’re in,” he reflected on his own optimism that things would soon change with the upcoming election. He told the host, “I supervised a high school lunchroom — you’re an optimist or you’re dead.” Hoping for a better future with the Harris-Walz government, he continued, “I plan on waking up on November 6 with Madam President.”

However, amid the audience’s cheers, Jimmy Kimmel asked Walz for further clarification over the statement. The host said, “I want to be clear, you won’t be waking up together.” When the governor laughed and acknowledged the slip-up of words, Kimmel continued, “Unless you guys have gotten closer than we thought.” Walz then proceeded to clarify the error in his statement. He said, “I have a problem about not being specific with my language. So thank you for that, specifically right.”

Walz also recalled how he missed Kamala Harris’ call informing him to be her running mate. He also revealed saving Harris’ number on his phone as “My dry cleaner” and detailed his relationship with the Democratic presidential candidate.
