The Gaudreau family suffered a devastating loss last month when they lost brothers Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau in a tragic accident. Johnny Gaudreau’s widow, Meredith Gaudreau, has now announced her pregnancy at the NHL star’s funeral, which was held on September 9.
The Gaudreau family was reportedly going to celebrate the late brothers’ sister Katie Gaudreau’s wedding that weekend. Ahead of the big day, the soon-to-be groomsmen, Johnny, 31, and Matthew, 29, took off for a bike ride in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. On August 29, the brothers got struck by a car while biking down a county road. The New Jersey State Police reportedly learned that the driver was inebriated. Authorities confirmed Johnny and Matthew’s deaths soon after the tragic accident.
Meredith shares Johnny Gaudreau’s reaction to baby no. 3
Johnny Gaudreau’s funeral was held on Monday. ABC News reported that during the memorial service, Meredith announced that she is expecting her third child with the late NHL star. The two share a daughter, Noa Harper Gaudreau, and a son, Johnny Edward Gaudreau. The widow shared that she and Johnny “had the best six months as a family of four.” The two welcomed their son earlier this year in February. Meredith said the time will “forever be the best six months” of her life.
The mother of two then shared that “there’s specifically one week” that she would “cherish forever.” Meredith revealed, “We’re actually a family of five.” She continued and shared that she’s in her “ninth week of pregnancy” with her and Johnny’s third child. Calling the pregnancy a “total surprise,” Meredith shared that her husband was “beaming and so excited.”
The late NHL star’s reaction was to kiss and hug her immediately. Meredith called herself “lucky” for being the “mother of John’s three babies.” Addressing her babies, Johnny’s widow added, “Daddy loves you all so much,” further saying, “You have the best daddy in the world.”
Matthew Gaudreau’s widow, Madeline, is also pregnant with the couple’s first child.
