Morgan Wallen Dodges Felony Hearing, But Not For Long

Country music star Morgan Wallen recently dodged potential jail time, but not for good. The presiding judge granted a continuance and delayed the hearing from August 15 to December 12. At that point, Wallen must answer for his three felonies and one misdemeanor unless his legal team can convince the judge to grant a further continuance.

Wallen felony hearing delayed but not canceled

Morgan Wallen managed to convince the judge on his case to issue a continuance concerning his felony hearing. However, this issue isn’t going to disappear for him. According to Billboard, Wallen was supposed to appear in court on August 15, but this was delayed to December 12.

Wallen was charged with three counts of felony reckless endangerment and one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct for an incident on April 7 at Eric Church’s bar Chief’s. The singer allegedly threw a chair from the sixth-story rooftop into the street below. Unfortunately for Wallen, the chair landed about three feet away from two Nashville Police Department officers. The incident was caught on video (which you can see above), and bar staff recounted that Wallen was laughing after throwing the chair.

If Wallen is found guilty of his charges, he could face a maximum of six years in prison, two years for each count if the judge finds he should serve them consecutively. However, the possibility of that happening is almost nonexistent. The realistic max that Wallen is facing would be two years in prison if he were found guilty on all three counts of felony reckless endangerment, as the judge would likely allow him to serve the time concurrently.

It’s needless to say that Nashville isn’t too happy with Wallen. According to NewsChannel5, in May, his This Bar applied for an external sign with the Nashville Metro Council, which was voted down 30-3 with 4 abstaining. The council cited that they didn’t particularly care to grant a billboard with someone’s name who’s throwing chairs off buildings and saying racial slurs (referencing the 2021 incident involving Wallen).
