Jimmy Kimmel Proves How Unfunny He Is With Emmys Stunt (And the Women in Attendance Are Not Amused)

Winning an Emmy is a big deal for actors, directors, writers, and other creatives involved in the television industry. One’s first Emmy is especially precious because it’s a moment that has never come before and may never come again. And the award is even more poignant if the win is a historic one. Unfortunately for Quinta Brunson, her magical Emmy moment was ruined by a very unfunny Jimmy Kimmel.

Just before the 54-year-old late-night host ruined Brunson’s big moment, Kimmel had literally been dragged onstage by Will Arnett, who joked that Kimmel, a bona fide loser in more ways than one, licked his wounds with too many “skinny margaritas,” implying that Kimmel had drunk himself unconscious. (Is anyone laughing yet? Yeah, us neither.)

Arnett announced the winner of the award for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, which went to Brunson, who created and stars in Abbott Elementary. This made her the third Black writer to ever win that award as well as only the second Black female to receive the honor in the Emmys’ 74-year history.

Brunson made her way to the stage to give her acceptance speech, but Kimmel didn’t move. He stayed prostrate like the human-sized string cheese he is, bombing what should have been a cherished photo opp for Brunson.

Kimmel refused to move for a full two minutes. Photos that captured the many women surrounding the scene show they were not amused.

Luckily, we live in the age of photo editing, and creator/influencer/entrepreneur Jonta’ Harris removed the big ol’ piece of white trash from the photo.

Anyone else think it’s time for Kimmel to retire? There are plenty of funny women who could take his place.
