‘Stranger Things’ Star Millie Bobby Brown Enrolled in Purdue University (You’ll Never Guess What She’s Studying)

Well, this is quite the career pivot. Millie Bobby Brown, the actor famous for playing Eleven on Netflix’s smash hit TV show Stranger Things, has enrolled in college. The 18-year-old is apparently taking online classes at Purdue University, which is coincidentally located in West Lafayette, Indiana, the same state as the sci-fi series that made her a household name takes place.

As for the young actor’s area of study? Here’s a hint: it’s not theater. Nope. It’s human services, where Brown hopes to “learn about the system and how to help young people,” according to a new interview with Allure magazine.

We suppose all good things must come to an end, even Stranger Things, which still has a fifth season to wrap, plus a live-action spinoff and a stage play being created by The Duffer Brothers’ production company Upside Down Pictures. We just never imagined Brown would shift from acting to do, oh, something so normal.

Ah, but she’s a multifaceted character in real-life, too. In addition to Stranger Things and her post-secondary education, she also has a production company with her family, her own beauty brand Florence by Mills, has penned a pair of screenplays with her sister Paige, and is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF.

“Of course, people can look at it as pressure or scary, but I think that’s the most exciting part of my job,” Brown said in the interview. “People are all looking at me, ‘What are you going to say, Millie?’ I’m going to say, ‘Young girls deserve an education. Young people everywhere deserve equal rights. [You] deserve to love the people that you want to love. Be the people that you want to be and achieve the dreams that you want to achieve.’ That’s my message.”

Sounds like Millie Bobby Brown is already qualified to work in human services and will help a lot of people doing so, but we sure are going to miss her as Eleven on Stranger Things.
