‘Seinfeld’ Actress Kathryn Kates Who Denied Elaine Chocolate Babka Dies, Please Enjoy the Classic Scene in Her Honor

Actress Kathryn Kates has passed away at the age of 73. You either know her from appearances on Seinfeld or Orange Is the New Black, depending on your age and TV genre of choice.

“After a long, hard-fought battle with lung cancer, Kathryn passed away peacefully this past Saturday surrounded by her brother Josh, his wife Sue Ann and her sister Mallory,” Headline Talent Agency said to CNN in a statement.

“She was incredibly brave, thoughtful, wise and loving,” the statement continued. “Kathryn approached every role she ever played, as well as her daily life with the greatest of passion. We will do our best to honor her incredible legacy. The world truly lost one of the good ones.”

“Our mighty @officialkathrynkates has passed away,” the talent agency posted on Instagram. “She will always be remembered and adored in our hearts as the powerful force of nature she was. She loved this craft and had enough patience to fill 10 ships. A true icon. We will miss you.”

We will miss her, too, and we will remember her most fondly as the woman who denied Elaine Benes a chocolate babka on “The Dinner Party” episode of Seinfeld.

Enjoy this scene in her honor and debate amongst yourselves whether or not cinnamon is the lesser babka… (Chocolate FTW.)
