Meanwhile in Nature: Tourist Snaps Selfie With Crocodile, Croc Snaps Back (Video)

There’s a concept called “natural consequences.” It states that if you do X, Y will inevitably follow. A case of a tourist visiting an amusement park in the Philippines is a perfect example. While vacationing in Cagayan de Oro City, a 68-year-old man named Nehemias Chipada decided to take a photo with what he believed to be a plastic crocodile. Several broken bones and eight bite wounds later, he realized his mistake: the 12-foot croc had in fact been real!

Of course someone captured this mishap on video – and we can’t help but share it with you.

In the clip, you can see the man tousling with the massive reptile before frantically escaping the pool with a bloodied arm. He’s lucky he emerged from the gator’s lair at all, much less with all his limbs in-tact.

This just goes to show you that the next time your ego urges you to get a selfie with some impressive beast in the wild – even if you think it’s fake – you might just want to take a mental picture and skip the #humblebrag on Instagram. The life you save might be your own!
