When it comes to cartoon characters making live public appearances on television, the characters from Family Guy have gotten pretty good at it over the years. But last night’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live wasn’t exactly a hosting gig at the Emmys. In fact, Brian Griffin didn’t even show. But don’t worry, because Peter and Stewie aren’t exactly helpless without him. The key is to literally turn the show you are on into a complete joke, as you’ll soon see from their quick exchange with the late night television host.

Peter And Stewie Discuss 300th Episode Of ‘Family Guy’ On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Not surprisingly, along with turning Kimmel into a walking punchline, Peter also (in his own lackadaisical way) announced that the upcoming 300th episode of the FOX series (that’s right, it’s on a rival network) will center around the fan-favorite duo Brian and Stewie. Speaking of which, their last milestone episode together (aptly titled “Brian & Stewie“) is still among the most well-received that the series has ever done. Time will tell whether or not the time tested “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” proverb actually pays off. But judging by this clip from the episode released yesterday, it’s a pretty safe bet (although that fall Stewie takes actually looks pretty unsafe):
