NFL Combine will remain in Indianapolis through at least 2025

The NFL Scouting Combine is staying in Indianapolis, at least for another year.

The weeklong event in which prospective NFL Draft picks run, jump, lift and more in front of team executives will remain in Indianapolis through at least 2025, according to a news release from Visit Indy.

Before the announcement, the combine was set just for this year. The combine has been in Indianapolis since 1987, though there is frequent discussion of taking it to other cities, the way the NFL does with its draft.

Indianapolis has worked because all the infrastructure for the event − a stadium, convention center, hotels, restaurants and hospitals − are in close quarters for participants and fans. The ease with which Indianapolis can handle the medical aspects of the combine is often cited as a significant benefit to holding the event here.

Roughly 300 draft hopefuls will come through the city Feb. 29-March 3 for drills, interviews, medical exams and more.

Last year's event drew more than $9 million in economic impact, according to Visit Indy.
